Roo is a former pirate captain who joined the Sock Pirates after the destruction of Littlewood.
Despite having a peg leg, Roo proved himself valuable through his knowledge of the criminal underworld and unwavering loyalty. When most pirates fled in terror from the catastrophic destruction of Littlewood by a mysterious sphere of holy light, Roo remained and offered his services as navigator to the displaced Sock Pirates crew.
Background
Roo was the orphaned son of settlers who died from sickness during their travels to Mercy. Left to fend for himself in the isolated Armada colony, he fell in with a smuggling crew where piracy became an ordinary trade for him.
His harsh upbringing in the criminal underworld shaped him into an unabashed individual who frequently says “screw you” to authority figures and adversaries alike. Despite his rough exterior and coarse language, Roo notably never swears.
A lover or rum and bubble baths, Roo always has loyalty to his crew to the very end.
Abilities
Though physically weaker than the rest of the Sock Pirates and handicapped by his peg leg, Roo compensates with practical fighting skills and street-smart tactics. His signature combat technique is the “Screw You Drill,” a spinning rapier attack that he performs with stylish flourish, driving his weapon into opponents while declaring his defiant catchphrase.
Exploits
During the Mercy Saga, Roo proved instrumental in helping the Sock Pirates navigate both the literal waters and the criminal underworld of the floating islands. His knowledge of pirate operations and smuggling routes provided crucial intelligence throughout their adventures. suffering a grievous injury when Swamp Pirates cut off his leg during their raid on Eden village, Roo remained steadfast in his loyalty to the crew until they beat the Swamp Pirates.

In the Archibast Saga, Roo accompanied the crew to the zebra-dominated planet where he got his drinking under control and formed an unexpected romantic connection. Despite being captured by the villain Vida’s forces during the final confrontation, Roo survived the ordeal and ultimately chose to remain on Archibast with Queen Mida, having found love and a new purpose. The saga’s conclusion showed the two together in a budding relationship, watched over by the newly freed Nalani.
